The oil spill from an oil tanker that sank in the waters of Nueva Valencia town in Guimaras province has already affected 20 barangays in three Guimaras towns and 1,600 hectares of mangroves, and poses strong threats to Iloilo City, Bago City, and Villadolid town of Negros Occidental and the world-famous Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan, the Coast Guard reported yesterday.
